Opening the Season at Deanna Rose

Today I took the kids to Deanna Rose for the first time this year. It opened earlier this month. It was slightly chilly, but not bad, and, because it wasn't the "perfect" spring day, it wasn't very crowded. We started out at the playgrounds and fed the goats. They were really excited about the Dairy Barn slides too. They were only barely big enough last year at the end to do them and they are my least favorite part of Deanna Rose. You can't see the kids as they make their way up a very narrow stairway and there are two exits, though you can see both if you stand in the right place. However, it was Joshua and Clara's favorite thing today, so we will probably be doing it a lot this season. Hannah sat that one out, which I am not encouraging her to do it since I don't feel great about her on those stairs.

After getting our favorites out of the way, we did the nature walk, which we hadn't done before. They liked it just because it gave them a chance to run around, but I am not sure we saw much in the way of nature. Probably because they are so loud.

Finally, we ended at the butterfly garden. They haven't loved this in the past, but they really liked the stepping stones today. We had a fun time and I think we will be going lots more times throughout the summer.
