Halie's Bad Bye

Today was Halie's last day of coming here regularly as our nanny. We certainly hope to have her babysit at times, but it won't be the twice-a-week schedule we have been doing, which is really sad. The kids don't really understand what that means, but I definitely wanted to do something so they could have closure and transition so we had a "bad bye" party for Halie this afternoon. We got her a necklace and book of appreciation. Clara tried really hard to get the necklace for herself, but settled for the box.

We also had cake, which is vital. We had banana split cupcakes, which was a new recipe for me. They turned out well, though Hannah is a girl after my own heart and hates maraschino cherries.

I was originally very nervous about hiring someone to care for my children that I did not know. However, Halie has been amazing for the kids and such a positive addition to our lives.  She helped Hannah learn to walk (she was very reluctant), helped all the kids in their potty training, helped teach them good manners and good behavior, and generally helped them grow and develop in a positive and healthy manner.  She also was able and willing to take all three kids with her to different places by herself (the pool, the zoo, the aquarium, the park, etc.).  That would have been too much for a lot of people to handle, but she did it often and did it very well, and even always managed to get pictures for the blog at the same time.  We feel blessed to have had her and really feel that God put her in our lives at the right time.  Though I am really glad to be done with my job, it is with great sadness that we end our time of having her come on a regular basis.
