Joshua and Clara have their Valentine's Day party tomorrow at school. Part of the plan, as is probably the case with every little kids' class ever, is to exchange valentines. We bought cards for each kid to sign, hoping we could get them to write their names on them, but unfortunately they are still working on that skill. We were able to coax them each to write the first two letters, with some practice first, on each card. But after that, each effort broke down, so we had to write the rest of the letters on each card. So, for example, Joshua's cards ended up being signed like this:
(Curvy line that looks kind of J-ish) (An O that sometimes turns into a spiral) S H U A.
Oh well. It's not a big deal that they can't write their names, but it's probably something that Joshua should be making real progress on pretty soon. He really has no interest in writing, which makes it difficult for him to learn, because he doesn't want to do it and doesn't really have his brain fully engaged when he's being taught. Hopefully this changes sometime soon though.
